Rubber Stamping For Your Scrapbook
Rubber stamps dipped in acid free ink can be used to decorate your scrapbook pages in hundreds of
ways. You can get rubber stamps in thousands of different designs - everything from cute cartoon characters,
to letter and number fonts, to intricate vintage designs and full length quotes.
Many stamps are designed to provide you with an outline to color in. Rather than coloring in directly onto your
scrapbook page, you may prefer to stamp the image onto a piece of paper, color it in, then cut it out and mount it.
If you use one of these outline stamps, make sure you choose suitable acid free coloring pencils.
For a raised effect you can also use embossing ink and powder and a heat gun to bring your stamped image to
life.
There are now hundreds and hundreds of rubber stamp designs available, and your only problem is going to be
choosing only a few stamps and paying for them! It can get very expensive if you buy a stamp for a one-off
project and it can't be used again.
There are also some really super "text" stamps available which have been developed for the greeting card market
but which work well in scrapbooking too.
One low cost alternative to the rubber stamp is a cotton ball. This creates a shadowy effect. You might want to
dab off excess ink onto kitchen towel and practice your effect before starting on the actual scrapbook page.
For a child-themed scrapbook page, you could try making your own potato or sponge stamps like you did as a child
- or better yet, get the kids to make them for you! Again, practice before you stamp your page to be sure the
effect is going to work and to get the right depth of ink.

If you need more inspiration do a search on Google for rubber stamp suppliers - you will find hundreds! Or have
a "rubber stamp meet" with your friends - raid their supplies, swap stamps which you will no longer use, or just
print out a copy of each stamp so that you will have a record of what you all have available.
